Have you ever noticed how challenging it can be for kids who need extra support to stay focused and engaged while learning? I saw firsthand how difficult it can be, especially when the tools aren't built with them in mind. That’s why I created Bekhanak, a joyful, gamified app designed to make learning not only easier but also exciting. It brings together children, parents, and teachers in a playful ecosystem that supports consistency, motivation, and meaningful progress.

MY ROLE UX Designer, User Researcher

Timeline - 12 weeks
To get closer to my target group, I went on a learning journey! I watched kids in classrooms, talked with parents, and read research papers. Through these three methods I understood everyone’s needs better.
I spent time watching my students with special needs in my own classroom, noting how they worked with learning materials and connected with me and their classmates. These close-up observations showed me their struggles with staying focused, engaging with lessons, and using tools effectively.
Behavioral Observations in Class

I chatted with parents and fellow teachers through school meetings, one-on-one talks, planned calls, and casual conversations with educators from different schools and areas. These discussions brought to light our biggest hurdles, especially when it comes to finding enough time to stay involved and tracking how my students are progressing.
I dug into research papers on special needs education to get a clearer picture of the challenges my students face. This helped me spot their struggles like difficulty focusing or staying motivated. along with teaching ideas that really work and tools that can support their learning in a meaningful way.

To deeply understand my target users and their challenges, I crafted personas and empathy maps based on my research. These tools highlight the needs, emotions, and experiences of the key groups in special needs education: Parents, Students, and Teachers.
